About Women for Women
Since 1993, Women for Women International has been working to transform the lives of women in war-torn countries. They work with the most marginalized women in the most difficult places. They stay for the long term—helping to create access and opportunities. Through the year-long Stronger Women Stronger Nations Program, the women (also known as sisters) form support networks, learn to earn an income and save, build businesses, gain knowledge and resources about health and their rights. The women realize their own power and pass on this knowledge to their families and communities, creating a world that’s more equal, peaceful, and prosperous. Within two years, their graduates report a five-fold increase in daily income. At enrollment, women earn an average of 41 cents a day—compared to $1.98 two years after graduation.
